The Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science (IMPACS) at Aberystwyth University has research interests in several areas relevant to optoelectronics. Materials research into optically active materials such as diamond, graphene, glasses and organic semiconductors is carried out using techniques such as Raman microscopy, photoemission spectroscopy, hyperspectral microscopy and ellipsometery. In the computer science department there is a strong research theme on vision, graphics and visualisation with applications in biological and medical imaging along with intelligent robotics and space instrumentation. The group has extensive experience of full-wave electromagnetic field computation at microwave frequencies and upwards.
